Meeting - September 22, 2005

There were 16 members present. Theme: Going Backwards.

A very entertaining evening and lots of laughs. John adjourned the meeting at 7:15 and we immediately had a few announcements all for the good of Toastmasters. Linda P our Treasurer announced that the fees are going up. Jane announced that the church is looking for participants for a variety night and all donations will be sent to the survivors of Katrina. Keith thought the agenda was out of order and Marie corrected him that the agenda was absolutely accurate. Heidi is looking for 2 readers and Brenda and Grace volunteered. They have also asked for a 15 minute skit and 13 people are needed. December 8 is the night of the murder mystery and will be held at the Listowel Golf Course. Supper will be at 6:30. Keith, Allan, Jane, Marie, Harvey and Heidi were all involved in the International Plowing Match this week as members of Toastmasters. Felix gave the Timers report and Audrey gave the Language Enricher report. Keith gave the general evaluation of the meeting tonight – very funny, creative and well done – he scolded a couple of members for their inappropriate fighting during the meeting. The Quizmaster for tonight was Diane, well done Diane, once again very humorous. Linda P. evaluated Heidi and said she used tonight’s word for the evening 15 times.....wow amazing Heidi! She also scolded her about doing cartwheels in a skirt! tsk tsk!…..George was amazed that 15 people tied for first place in Table Topics competition. George asked all participants to come up with whatever they wanted – a nice variety of topics and some had a lot to say about nothing! Brian challenged Marie’s point of view (which it hasn’t happened yet), but anyway, did not support her view on legalizing marijuana use….Marie on the other hand challenged Brian by referring to the people who were raised in the 60’s as opposed to being born in the 60’s. An excellent debate and entertaining and was also noted and for the record - that Brian and Marie are not friends! Heidi gave her speech and opened it up with an attempt at cartwheels, a very good attempt I might add. Her speech was about the International Plowing Match and MCing – it sounds like a few challenges to say the least. Linda D gave literary corner by reading an article on the “Power of your Mind”. Audrey provided the word “volunteer” and a reminder to all that it is an important and powerful word. Without volunteers there would be a lot of things that wouldn’t get done. There were no guests tonight. Felix gave the toast to Canada. Jane called the meeting to order at 8:45 and announced how boring and dry it was tonight – all agreed and packed it in for the night and went home.
