Greetings fellow Toastmasters:
Lots of fun was had by all tonight – it was great to see such a good turnout – 15 members in all for our very first fall meeting of 2005. The meeting was kicked off by Ezra with the call to order and a good joke. John our illustrious leader was our chairman for the evening and gave a complimentary salute to our teachers who are in the midst of kicking off another school year. Marie volunteered to be our toast and timer with a salute to Canada our great country as well as commenting on other blessings that we experience on a daily bases living here. Linda D. presented language enricher and introduced the word “dyspeptic” which means bad tempered, short tempered, mean, snappish or prickly. (Please note, there aren’t any of these types of people in our group!), but still…. an interesting word. It actually got quite a bit of use tonight as well as few chuckles. Brenda presented Literary Corner and cautioned us about swimming right after eating and the dangers associated to this – thanks Brenda, it’s great to get a reminder about this sort of stuff again. Brian rose to the occasion (spontaneously) and presented a speech about “I just can’t get away”… Brian has so many relatives and no body remembers his name! …. only that he is a cousin, brother, uncle, or son of someone else. Linda M. did tables topics this evening - reminding us of the joy of children and their need to hear childhood stories about their parents – especially stories when they got into trouble – this lead into a table topics for all to participate and tell everyone about a childhood story/incident of their own. Brian’s story was very entertaining and he won the award for the evening. John presented the education module and the “Distinguished Club” presentation outlining the goals a club has to achieve in order to win the award. Diane gave Brian his evaluation feedback which was very positive – way to go Brian. General Evaluator was Linda P. and gave the meeting an “A” - very complimentary of all participants in the meeting. Marie finished off the meeting with the timers report. Brenda commented on the new increase in fees to join the Toastmasters club going forward – fees were voted on and unanimously accepted and meeting was adjourned at 9:00pm
