Linguists of Listowel
October 26, 2006
Linguists of Listowel held their open house demonstration meeting. The Theme of the meeting was “Challenges”. Sheryl called the meeting to order at 7:15 and introduced chair person Brian. He welcomed guests Nicole, Devon and Chris. Marie asked everyone what their favorite country was and on the count of three there was an overwhelming chorus of CANADA. This was followed by a toast to Canada.
As Language enricher Diane chose the word Stimulate which means to rouse up or spur. For example, the meeting stimulated her imagination. It was used six times during the evening.
Audrey read a chapter from the book “The Shepherd of the Hills.” Jane presented five true or false questions for the “Believe it or not Section”. It is true that you can not cry in space because there is no gravity!
George presented his #8 speech in his CTM manual. His title was “A Turkeys’ Tale”.
Marie evaluated his speech.
Allan shared his #4 speech in the CTM Manual “My Dog Wally”. There was a round table evaluation with lots of glow points and a few grow points.
Gary presented Table topics with the help of his daughter, Nicole. Members had to reply falsely to a series of questions. Welcome guest Chris won the table topics award.
Keith Stoltz summed up the best aspects of the meeting and offered a few suggestions for improvement.
Brian concluded the meeting and Murder Mystery practice began. Members should have their parts memorized for next week.
