Linguists of Listowel

Linguists of Listowel
Linguists of Listowel met at St Paul’s Lutheran Church on October 19, 2006 at 7:15 pm.
Brian had a lot of fun as Chairman for this meeting. The theme was “Cast A Ways”.
He welcomed guest Sandra and she introduced herself to the club. Gary presented The Loyal Toast to Canada. Delegate was the word for the evening. As a verb it means to entrust a task to someone else, as a noun it means you could be a delegate or representative at a meeting. It was used three times during the meeting. Sheryl read the theme song to Gilligans Island. This brought back a lot of memories to everyone. Marie presented her #8 speech in her third CTM manual-Check your Wallets and your Hats. She described her experiences with lost wallets. It was evaluated by Keith. Jane gave her speech-Anaconda 3 about her trip to Australia and Diane evaluated it. Brian Camacho gave a communication exercise in place of table topics. Members had to follow verbal directions to draw a picture, without asking questions. Then they had the chance to draw a different picture and they could ask questions but there was a shorter time limit. Everyone felt it was very beneficial to be able to ask questions.
Allan did an excellent job as General Evaluator. He gave us many good points on the evening and motivated everyone with some grow points.
Murder mystery practice followed the meeting.

Friday October 20, 2006 was the Western Division Humorous and Table Topics competition at the Kin Station in Listowel.
