Toastmaster had a fun time with the Mother's Day theme at our weekly meeting. Linda P skillfully and humorously had everyone laughing all night long. Linda told us her favourite motherly sayings.
Gary introduced Dave W, our guest for the evening. George provided us with a toast to mothers and to Canada. Gary provided the word “Slugabed” for language enricher. A slugabed is someone who stays in bed longer than they should. Audrey read a story called “How we Kept Mother’s Day”.
Brian provided his point of view on why Listowel needs a Recreational Centre and Gary provide the counter point of view on why Listowel does not need a Recreational Centre. Newest member Sheryl presented a 6 minute impromptu speech. Sheryl did an outstanding job considering she has not presented her ice breaker speech yet. Ken gave a glowing evaluation of Sheryl’s speech.
Jane presented table topics. She asked all members to pick up a garage sale item from the churches garage sale table. The members had to explain why they were giving this gift to their mother or spouse. Ken won table topics with his memorable “one boot in the grave” story. The evening ended with Keith as quizmaster and Audrey as General Evaluator.
Plan on attending the next meeting on May 18th with the theme of “Book Reviews”
