April 6, 2006

If only I had know..... was the theme for the weekly Toastmaster meeting on April 6th. We had one of the largest meetings of the year with everyone ready for a fun and educational evening. There were several guests at our meeting. Diane R from Toast of the Valley, Vermont and Cherlyn O from Gowanstown grace us with their presence.

Audrey opened the meeting with the call to order. She told us that we should not have any regrets and we should not concern ourselves with "If I had only know". Jane was the chair for the evening. Jane kept the meeting flowing with quotes and introducing each member as a famous person.

Diane B presented the Toast. She toasted the health and safety for all Canadians. Heidy was the language enricher. She taught us the differences between "resident" and "residence"; "constituent" and "constituency. George read a motivating story from Inspire the Body and Soul Life Lessons. He told us how to make each day a master piece. Diane R presented speech number five from the Story Telling manual. Her title was Bring History to Life. Brian presented speech number five from the Speaking To Inform manual. Both speeches were very enlighting and entertaining. The speeches were evaluated by Audrey and Keith respectively.

Linda M presented a mini humourous speech as she outlined how we were going to run table topics. Each member needed to help Linda solve a household problem that she was encountering. Audrey won table topics by telling Linda how to solve her garage door opening problem. Everyone laughed a dozen times as we heard the solutions.

Gary presented a very informative general evaluation for the evening. Overall, the meeting was very sucessful. We had a large crowd, we had guests and we had lots of fun and laughter.

Please attend our next meeting on April 13th. The theme is Easter Egg Hunt. Same place. Same time.

Keith
