Linguists of Listowel Toastmasters
June 14, 2007
Theme: “B Q Season”
Members present were Keith, Jane, Marie, Diane, Sheryl, Leo and George.
Marie called the meeting to order at 7:15. The theme was B Q season and Marie likes to cook over an open fire. Diane gave the loyal toast. Sheryl was language enricher and described the verb Fire Up. It was used 17 times during the meeting. George read an article entitled Southerners don’t Barbeque. Keith presented his first speech from the advanced manual Communicating on Television. He was required to give a 3 minute editorial or opinion. He proposed that consumers should buy locally. Diane evaluated.
Leo was in charge of table topics. He passed around an envelope of situations concerning barbequing. George won the table topics award.
Several members presented off the cuff speeches.
Marie: What would you do with 20 million dollars?
Keith: Hamilton Predators – Get your seasons tickets.
Jane: Run for Cancer
Leo: My Barbeque Purchase
Jane read a story about a sick guinea pig and one called My Dads Okay.
Marie closed the meeting and refreshments were enjoyed.
