Al Seawright DTM enjoys a toastmaster council meeting at Frankies in Hanover

Division W Governor Glenn Oxford ACB, past Division W governor Marge Seawright DTM and Area 66 Governor Diana Snowden ACG, AL

Area 66 Council Meeting on Saturday May 29th
Each year we are to host this session of Presidents, Vice Presidents
of Education and Division and District Officers in accordance with
Toastmasters International guidelines.
The purpose of this meeting is to provide an opportunity to discuss
club plans and goals. Topics will include The Distinguished Program,
the Officer Training Program and the planning of inter-club events
such as training, workshops and speech contests.
This is the ideal time to share each clubs successes and concerns so
we can continue to grow and enrich our lives and pass it on to others.
My theme for this year was Results Happen when you Choose to Take
Action...and we have all accomplished that theme.
Once again thank you for your wonderful support and look forward to
seeing you on the 29th.
Kindest regards,

Diana Snowden
Area 66 governor

Good Evening Linguists of Listowel
We welcomed thirteen members and 5 guests to our meeting. Chairperson Rich carried the theme “The Power of Positive Thinking” throughout the meeting. George Nichol introduced Lorna and Val. Audrey introduced Piet and Anne. Sharon introduced her cousin Gail. Newest member George Stevers made everyone laugh with his joke of the day. Jessica gave the loyal toast and handled the timer with expertise. Leo challenged us with the word “urbane”. It was used many times during the meeting. Diane read and excerpt from Merri McCartney’s book “Shiny Thinking Shiny Life”. She then presented Rhea Longman with a certificate for completing her sixth speech. Congratulations Rhea!
Sharon Diehl completed CC#3 with her speech entitled “Changing Direction”. She has certainly used the power of positive thinking in her life. Well Done. She was evaluated by Heidi Menzi.
Rhea Longman shared her CC #7 speech “The Wives and Children of King Henry the VIII. We look forward to the second half next week. Great job, Rhea. She was evaluated by Keith McCluskie.
Sharon D’Arcey led a very exciting table topics session. She explained the very strict rules with enthusiasm and creativity! She challenged every member and most guests to talk their way out of embarrassing situations. Piet won the Table ‘topics award for his ability to talk his way out of a very sticky situation. Audrey listened carefully as quiz master and stumped us on several sayings throughout the evening.
Brent congratulated everyone on their roles and their ability to use the power of positive thinking. Rich closed the meeting right on time and encouraged members to sign up for next week’s backwards Meeting. Heidi was in charge of snacks while everyone enjoyed fellowship after the meeting.

June 9th, Wednesday, "Evening of Delight and Inspiration" at Grace United Church, Hanover. $5.00 for Spaghetti dinner @ 6 pm, Workshop begins at 7 pm.
Please confirm your attendance with Area Governor Diana Snowden 519-364-3346.

Members: just a note about our June 3rd meeting. We will discuss it further next week.
Pastor Dwarka suggested having our meeting in the church at the back, putting in 2 tables on either side at the back and moving them up to the back of the pews, then there would be space to have chairs. I believe it was suggested to have it at the Wallace church.
We would not be able to utilize the kitchen or the back room due to the
photo directory pictures taking place. Everyone would be required to
bring their own water for sure.
I believe this could work quite well for this one evening. Everyone would come in the front door of the church that evening instead of the back room or through the kitchen.

Dear Members of the Linguists of Listowel:

Hope everyone enjoyed Catching a Rainbow last evening.

Heidi Menzi began our meeting last evening with the inspirational message and did a recap of how rainbows are made. Heidi asked members if anyone had seen three rainbows, keep looking upwards! Brent Jemmett called the meeting to order and introduced Jane as the chair for the evening. Jessica Kelly got everyone relaxed with the joke of the day. George Stevers are newest member tackled his role with loyal toast & timer and did a great job! Our word for the evening was reverie/revery meaning to daydream or lost in thought presented to us by Sharon Diehl. The word was used four times throughout the meeting.
Rhea Longman concluded her very descriptive Part #2 speech from #5 in the CC manual and Leo Brisebois gave a speech from the Humorous Manual entitled Distorted Messages. Written evaluations were given this evening to the speakers.

Elections was chaired by Keith Stoltz and the results are as follows:

President: Brent Jemmett, CC
VP of Education: Jane Stoltz, ATMS
VP of Membership: Keith McCluskie
VP of Public Relations: Sharon D'Arcey
Treasurer: George Nichol, CC
Secretary: Jessica Kelly, CC
Sargeant of Arms: Rich Boertien, CC

Keith McCluskie handled the table topics portion of the evening very well as everyone was given an interesting question to answer. Marilyn Hynes tried to stump the members with quotes used throughout the evening by members. Our award for best table topics went to Audrey Orth. Our meeting concluded with a general evaluation recap of our meeting by Rich Boertien and delicious snacks courtesy of George Nichol were enjoyed by all. Next week's meeting theme on Thursday May 13th is 'What Mother's Teach Us".

Have a great week as you listen, laugh, learn and lead.
Jane Stoltz
VP of Education
