Theme for the Toastmasters meeting was “Remember When”. Brian chaired the meeting. After his opening remarks he made changes to the agenda. Diane presented a Remembrance Day Toast to Canada. For literary corner Jane remembered when the Family Herald Magazine used to come to her house. She chose an article about the International Plowing match in 1964. One year subscription was $1.50 and three years was $3. Linda shared a personal story-“Heights are Hideous”. She has always had a fear of heights because she fell off her third floor balcony when she was16 months old. Luckily she survived with only a few scratches and bruises. Welcome back Linda. Allan presented his eighth speech in his CTM manual. His object was to get to the point. He spoke about protecting the environment. Marie led a team topic where people were divided into two teams and had to speak for approximately 1 minute each and use about 8 specific words in a continuous story. It was a lot of fun and challenged our memory skills and our creativity.
Audrey evaluated Allan’s speech.
Jane and Keith gave an enthusiastic report on the fall conference in Niagara Falls. Keith presented an improve workshop to over 50 participants. Everyone was enthusiastic and learned a lot. District 60 has so many clubs that it will be dividing in half in the near future. New Competent leadership manuals were distributed to our members by Jane. Sheryl did an excellent job as general evaluator.
Next week Linguists of Listowel will be twinning with Mount Forest Motivators at the King Hotel on Wed November 15 at 7 p.m.
