June 29, 2006

There was fine food, great wines and fantastic company as the Linguists of Listowel sat down for the summer banquet. Marie opened the evening with a funny story about John our chair for the night. John skillfully chaired the meeting with the theme of Best/Worst summer jobs.

George provided the loyal toast to Canada. He wished Canada a happy 139th birthday. Canada is a country where students have endless opportunities to find a job. Sheryl said Grace before our meal.

Jane presented the word “garrulous”. This is an adjective which means “talking too much about trivial things”. Keith read several of our clubs blog write ups from last June. Brian presented a speech called “It is a lot like Juggling”. Brian is a very talented juggler. He presented an outstanding analogy on juggling and giving speeches. As usual, Brian had everyone laughing. Ken evaluated Brian.

Audrey chair Table topics with our guests Marilyn N and Marge S winning. John presented the presidents pin to Brian. He also installed the new executive. Keith presented John with the Past Presidents pin.

Allan kept everyone guessing as the quizmaster. Linda P did an outstanding job as General Evaluator.
